In July 2013 Acxiom commissioned Forrester Consulting to evaluate how companies use the data they collect from their customers to make better decisions on their marketing campaigns by gauging their experiences and attitudes around their use of and future vision for using customer data across multiple marketing channels. In order to understand this topic, we conducted interviews with 11 executives representing a range of roles and perspectives, including consumer packaged goods companies, financial services organizations, and agencies.

Passed on May 9, 2014, the Digital Accountability and Transparency Act (DATA Act) legislation requires federal agencies to report all expenditures—grants, loans, and contracts—in order to provide American citizens and policy makers better visibility into federal spending. At first glance, new federal requirements— which are scheduled to go in effect May 2017—can seem like imposed obligations with unknown benefits to the implementers. However, wise agencies and early adopters recognize how to transform this new compliance obligation into an opportunity to advance their federal agency by becoming more data driven. The Federal Government maintains vast amounts of data, and the DATA Act establishes data standards and sharing protocols that will help agencies exploit the benefits of data mining and analytics.

DDoS attacks have long been known as the main form of cyber attack risk. “The Financial Inspection Manual” revised by the Japanese government’s Financial Services Agency in April 2015, identifies the risk of "DDoS attacks", and the need to take countermeasures is strongly emphasized. Other government agencies also acknowledge the frequency and severity of DDoS attacks. However, a clear method to completely prevent DDoS attacks has not been established yet. Why is that?
