DevOps is fast becoming a core competency required to gain competitive advantage. At its most basic level, DevOps is a team approach to drive agile modern application development and operations to deliver high quality critical digital business services. Cloud services are fundamentally changing the way applications are developed. The near ubiquitous, lowfriction access to cloud computing for developers, who can literally access powerful computing resources at the touch of a keystroke or swipe of a credit card, has fundamentally altered the software development lifecycle (SDLC).

"DevOps – seeks to unify the traditionally separate worlds of application development and the operational functions that follow. Once unified, the process then loops back again to enable seamless iterations faster than ever before. The theory of constraints teaches process planning and path of least resistance, yet IT lags most industries when integrating the entire process. This is where DevOps both finds its greatest challenge to adoption and, arguably, the greatest need for its revolutionary way of doing things. This InformationWeek special report outlines the current state of DevOps adoption and its impact on the Financial Services industry."

DevOps Unlimited needed to provide application infrastructure for a start-up client which was enjoying rapid growth with its new financial services product. Neither DevOps nor the client wanted to invest in, or manage, its own IT hardware, so a cloud service was the ideal solution. It would give the client the ability to grow rapidly without tying up time, resources and capital expense deploying dedicated IT hardware.

As a software vendor, you know that offering innovative solutions with built-in intelligence is becoming a requirement in today’s application marketplace. On top of this, you need to bring your apps to market as quickly as possible while providing more value for your customers, without incurring additional development and operating costs. Microsoft has been investing heavily in AI, extending a breadth and depth of intelligent services ready for use in the cloud. This enables you to jump in quickly to make use of existing tried-and-true AI models, and focus more effort on delivering quality products to customers. High-level services to jump-start your intelligent apps One of the key benefits of working with the Microsoft Azure AI platform is that the hard work has already been done. Developers can make use of services with pre-trained, customizable models rather than having to build their own models from the ground up. You can refine these models to better suit your customers’ needs and

What does a digital transformation look like? It varies from organization to organization, of course, since they have invested in countless systems and applications over the years. Digital transformation consists of building new applications and next-generation architectures on today’s open standards, using on-demand resources. For many organizations, digital transformation also means optimizing existing systems and application resources – integrating, replacing, or abstracting key pieces of their infrastructures into services.

We all know that hybrid cloud adoption is exploding, with 80% of enterprises having at least some infrastructure in the cloud. This growth includes increased use of the internet to deliver applications, sites and services to employees, partners and customers. These companies need an internet performance management (IPM) strategy to ensure those services reach users effectively, starting with DNS. Join Trip Kucera and Dyn VP, Gary Sloper, as they discuss the impact of cloud and internet infrastructure across the cloud adoption lifecycle. Key focus points include: • Optimizing round trip times and latency, from time to first byte, to internet routing • Understanding and comparing cloud service providers • Protecting your service from route hijacks, DDoS attacks and mitigating vulnerabilities. Watch this short Video Webinar and learn how focusing on the DNS layer can help you plan, migrate and optimize your way to cloud success!

DDoS attacks are the primary threat to the availability of your network. In 2014, the number of DDoS attacks continues its trend upward in both size and complexity. Today, attacks topping 100Gbps have become common. So have complex threats such as application-layer attacks against DNS and encrypted Web services. Taxing security teams even more is the rise in multi vector attacks which target applications, existing stateful infrastructure like Firewalls and IPS devices and upstream connectivity, all in a single sustained attack.

IT organizations are facing new challenges as a result of digital transformation, widespread cloud and SaaS adoption, mobile proliferation and pervasive IoT deployments. They must build and operate their internal data centers to deliver high availability for mission critical applications, rapidly onboard new applications and scale capacity on demand – all within the mandate to be cost competitive with infrastructure as a service providers (IaaS) like AWS and Azure. They are architecting and building new Intent-Based Data Centers to deliver private cloud services to their internal and external customers.

The network of yesterday is not the network that can take businesses into the future. As mission critical enterprise applications move to the cloud, wide area network (WAN) must adapt to become agile, flexible, and scale rapidly. Leading IT trends such as Internet of Things (IoT), Software as a Service (SaaS), cloud storage, enterprise mobility, emerging transport alternatives, and globalization increase the importance of how network assets are leveraged and how the network is conceptualized. The advantages of public and private data centers and cloud-based applications are significantly diminished if the network is slow, inflexible, and unpredictable. Erratic network performance with high latency, jitter and packet loss can significantly impact user adoption, satisfaction, and overall corporate productivity. As connectivity options continue to emerge, end users are no longer tethered to the office or to the localized applications and services that were trademarks of a primary or branc

Virtualized Evolved Packet Core (vEPC) is a major breakthrough in network function virtualization (NFV). When asked where they have deployed NFV in production networks, communication service providers (CSPs) consistently name vEPC as one of the top answers. Why is that? In order to maximize their processing capacity, CSPs virtualize a subset of their network applications, including mobile edge computing (MEC), base stations (small/macro cells) and the mobile core, because these systems use a large bandwidth. The mobile packet core builds the foundation of the core network on which mobile CSPs offer IP-based services to their customers. Implementing vEPC solutions can help CSPs obtain the scale necessary to accommodate growing numbers of subscribers and large amounts of traffic or connections while controlling costs and improving on quality of experience (QoE). In the past, evolved packet core (EPC) solutions were deployed on purpose-built hardware. NFV enables operators to deploy EPC c

To best support global users and customers, enterprises require seamlessly connectivity between branch office locations, applications, and workloads hosted in the cloud. Many WAN solutions are ill-equipped for this task because they are generally rigid, complex to configure, and expensive to maintain. IoT adoption, a dramatic increase of the number of network devices, and the sophistication of security threats further compounds this challenge. Geographically-distributed devices need secure cloud connectivity, limiting the ability of existing WAN solutions to fulfill the need of distributed organizations. Cisco SD-WAN on Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an overlay WAN architecture that is designed to address modern enterprise cloud applications and workloads, heterogeneous WAN connectivity, distributed global workforces, and other business needs that traditional WAN solutions cannot meet. A2P (Application to Person) messaging has underpinned this transformation, across a wealth of new use cases and new verticals. Historically, A2P was used for alerts and, as PSMS (Premium SMS), as a billing mechanism and carrier for simple content and services, both for one-off downloads or actions (eg voting) and for recurring payments. The latter use case has declined markedly in the past 5 years, due largely to the transition to an app-based economy, largely driven by card billing and by regulatory action (in markets such as the US and UK) against fraudsters.
