The growth of virtualization has fundamentally changed the data center and raised numerous questions about data security and privacy. In fact, security concerns are the largest barrier to cloud adoption. Read this e-Book and learn how to protect sensitive data and demonstrate compliance.
Virtualization is the creation of a logical rather than an actual physical version of something. such as a storage device, hardware platform, operating system, database or network resource. The usual goal of virtualization is to centralize administrative tasks while improving resilience, scalability and performance and lowering costs. Virtualization is part of an overall trend in enterprise IT towards autonomic computing, a scenario in which the IT environment will be able to manage itself based on an activity or set of activities. This means organizations use or pay for computing resources only as they need them.

Data is critical to the entertainment industry and not taking advantage of it can keep you from creating great experiences and delivering the right content to partners. And, more than that, it can make it hard for you to optimize operations, get insight into the content’s value and stay ahead of the many changes in how content is created, consumed and monetized.
However, even with the new digital tools in production, there are many challenges to making use of this data. The effort involved can take time and resources away from film production, introduce security risks, and leave key data inaccessible to those that need it.
In this paper, we review:
• The current state of production data
• The challenges the entertainment industry is facing in making use of data
• A new “Smart Content” approach that is helping industry pioneers to reduce complexity on the set, drive reporting, and enable them to stay ahead of market changes
As business requirements drive the need for a hybrid cloud strategy, companies must determine how best to run their applications and manage their data—whether in their private data center, near the cloud, or in the cloud. Hyperscale cloud providers offer excellent flexibility by allowing customers to buy raw resources in a consumption model by the hour. NetApp® has released a new way of deploying the cluster Data ONTAP® operating system that runs on hyperscale resources, that when combined with NetApp Private Storage for Cloud, offers customers superior choice in how they manage their cloud storage.
With Mac labs being a major presence on university campuses, many IT admins rely on imaging to ensure computers do not fall prey to viruses and costly data breaches, and to provide students with the education resources they need to be successful. The problem is imaging machines is a tedious and manual process, requiring lots of IT time.
In this white paper, we examine a better way to manage a Mac lab and explain how to:
• Leverage Apple’s Device Enrollment Program (DEP) to automatically configure and enroll Mac devices into management
• Make apps and resources readily available for students to use, regardless which computer they choose
• Ensure students only have access to the resources relevant to them by binding machines to your school’s directory services system

Today’s organizations are tasked with managing multiple data types, coming from a wide variety of sources. Faced with massive volumes and heterogeneous types of data, organizations are finding that in order to deliver insights in a timely manner, they need a data storage and analytics solution that offers more agility and flexibility than traditional data management systems.
Data Lakes are a new and increasingly popular way to store and analyse data that addresses many of these challenges. Data Lakes allow an organization to store all of their data, structured and unstructured, in one, centralized repository.
Data fuels workforce productivity. But corporate data typically resides in disparate silos spread across on-premises networks and cloud repositories. Knowledge workers are forced to repeatedly disrupt daily workflows to gather information from this data sprawl — a time-consuming and inefficient activity that diminishes productivity. They need a single point of access to all data sources, available from any device, where they can share and manipulate the content resources required to do their jobs.
Apache Hadoop technology is transforming the economics and dynamics of big data initiatives by supporting new processes and architectures that can help cut costs, increase revenue and create competitive advantage. An effective big data integration solution delivers simplicity, speed, scalability, functionality and governance to produce consumable data.
To cut through this misinformation and develop an adoption plan for your Hadoop big data project, you must follow a best practices approach that takes into account emerging technologies, scalability requirements, and current resources and skill levels.
