As schools look to blended learning as a solution to personalize and positively impact student achievement, the need to train and support teachers has become blatantly clear. Thus, districts and schools have allocated scarce resources to the process of onboarding and supporting teachers as new tools and platforms are introduced. However, school leaders and teachers often fail to recognize the need to similarly onboard and support students into new digital environments, instead trusting the inherent technological competencies of the “digital native” student. Data is critical to the entertainment industry and not taking advantage of it can keep you from creating great experiences and delivering the right content to partners. And, more than that, it can make it hard for you to optimize operations, get insight into the content’s value and stay ahead of the many changes in how content is created, consumed and monetized. However, even with the new digital tools in production, there are many challenges to making use of this data. The effort involved can take time and resources away from film production, introduce security risks, and leave key data inaccessible to those that need it. In this paper, we review: • The current state of production data • The challenges the entertainment industry is facing in making use of data • A new “Smart Content” approach that is helping industry pioneers to reduce complexity on the set, drive reporting, and enable them to stay ahead of market changes

We are living in an age of explosive data growth. IDC projects that the digital universe is growing 50% a year, doubling in size every 2 years. In media and entertainment, the growth is even faster as capacity-intensive formats such as 4K, 8K, and 360/VR gain traction. Fortunately, new trends in data storage are making it easier to stay ahead of the curve. In this paper, we will examine how object storage stacks up against LTO tape for media archives and backup. In addition to a detailed total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis covering both capital and operational expenses, this paper will look at the opportunity costs of not leveraging the real-time data access of object storage to monetize existing data. Finally, we will demonstrate the validity of the analysis with a real-world case study of a longstanding network TV show that made the switch from tape to object storage. The limitations of tape storage go way beyond its lack of scalability. Data that isn’t searchable is becoming

The quick-service restaurant industry continues to be a favorite among consumers who look to the sector for a wide variety of food served quickly and at a low price. The speed and efficiency of QSRs, which include the emergent “fast casual” restaurants, match today’s on-the-go lifestyle of consumers across all ages who often are too busy to cook at home. That said, consumers expect their dining experience at a QSR to be comfortable with conveniences ranging from WiFi connectivity to ordering kiosks and dining area entertainment on large screens or even tableside tablets. They expect the information on menu boards to be accurate and up-to-date and their meal orders to be fulfilled quickly and accurately. Technology is a major enabler in meeting consumers’ expectations while simultaneously helping QSR locations increase operational efficiencies and quality of service.

Hospitality is a customer-focused industry, with a hotel brand’s reputation and ultimate success dependent on the quality of the experience of its guests. It is no surprise then, that digital transformation efforts within the hospitality sector are focused on technologies that improve the guest experience, from check-in to check-out and everything in between. Today’s travelers are digitally savvy, using their smartphones and mobile devices for a multitude of tasks. They expect a high-quality connection throughout the property and the ability to perform certain tasks from the hotel’s app, such as checking in and choosing their own room. They expect in-room entertainment beyond basic cable and in-room digital devices they can use to order food, book a massage or control the lighting, for example.
