Part 3 in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, "Customer Demands at the Edge."
As distributed edge environments become more critical, physical security becomes more important. Nobody would leave their data center wide open for anyone to enter, but that’s exactly how many organizations treat their edge computing sites. Often, they consist of a rack or two of gear in a non-dedicated location, perhaps a janitor’s closet, with little to no physical security.
Fill out your information and click "Register" to watch the third event in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, “Customer Demands at the Edge: Protect me from Downtime!” This webinar originally aired on November 9th, 2017.
In this webinar, we discuss physical security best practices, including environmental issues such as temperature and humidity monitoring. We also update partners on the physical security features of the latest APC racks and the NetBotz line of security and environmental appliances, cameras and sensors.

See examples from different industries, ideas for overcoming common implementation challenges and strategies for adopting your own fleet management program.
Asset tracking is about more than just the location of drivers and vehicles, it's also about knowing where your movable and fixed assets are. By tracking assets, you can minimize cost and maximize profitability by monitoring the utilization of all assets. Just as vehicles need routine maintenance and fuel, assets also need to be checked regularly to ensure that they are working properly. GPS-based asset tracking can help to ensure that no asset, no matter the size, is overlooked, providing managers with a much-needed peace of mind. Investing in a fleet management software with asset tracking capabilities makes managing assets simple.

An Intelligent Roadmap for Capacity Planning
Many organizations apply overly simplistic principles to determine requirements for compute capacity in their virtualized data centers. These principles are based on a resource allocation model which takes the total amount of memory and CPU allocated to all virtual machines in a compute cluster, and assumes a defined level of over provisioning (e.g. 2:1, 4:1, 8:1, 12:1) in order to calculate the requirement for physical resources.
Often managed in spreadsheets or simple databases, and augmented by simple alert-based monitoring tools, the resource allocation model does not account for actual resource consumption driven by each application workload running in the operational environment, and inherently corrodes the level of efficiency that can be driven from the underlying infrastructure.
