Affecting over 200,000 machines in more than 150 countries, the ransomware known as Wanna Decryptor, or “WannaCry,” became the largest cybersecurity attack in history in May 2017. The malicious software locked out users from critical data, and demanded a ransom payment to unlock the contents.
